OPAL is the practical theatre direction course with further direction practice opportunity on professional stage - the production of the performance at the repertory theatre with professional actors. The course is designed for advanced candidates with professional stage experience - performing arts practitioners from various genres, techniques and styles. Participants will be able to learn the key principles of mounting the performance, acquire reliable director's toolkit for creating contemporary professional productions, improve skills and gain confidence in the director's role.
The conference is open to performers from all over the world interested in the research of topical questions and processes in contemporary performing arts education and training. Programme: practical workshops, performances, works-in-progress, presentations, lectures, discussions.
18th Street is pleased to announce the awarding of eight, theme-based California artists for it's 2010 artist residency program. The awards include a three month residency in our galleries, grants between $2500 and $5000, and a public presentation of their work. The eight Fellows of the 2010 artist Residency-program include: Robert Sain, Andrea Bowers, Martin Durazo, Elena Siff, Dorit Cypis, Ana Guajardo, Carla Herrera-Prats and Matthias Hess.
My most recent performance, Kattywampus, will be featured later this week in the Beyond Pressure International Festival of Performance Art in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma). It's an honor to be a part of this event. In fact, I understand that I am the first ever American performance artist to present work in Myanmar.

Ibsen 2010 International Grants were initiated by the Norwegian Government three years ago and they are given to international projects that are focusing upon Henrik Ibsens work. The grant wants to encourage the critical discourse regarding existential or social themes referring to Ibsen.
Born of a Javanese mother and a Chinese father, Antonius Kho got his formal art education in various institutions in Yogya, Bandung, and Cologne (Germany). The latter was particularly essential in shaping the artists style of late where human figures and faces (masks) are depicted decoratively with mosaic-like lines and forms. Antonius Kho has been actively exhibiting his works in Germany and Indonesia.
