The topic of the week was without doubt the anti- rocket shield. I kept on watching the news in the hope that I might understand what was it all about. The TV presenters, as serious as possible, seemed convinced that we assist at a historic moment. For me the entire approach seemed SF and I could not refrain from imagining all sorts of dystopias, starting with the hot topic of the day; or as a friend said, “let’s be happy this time that we are under the shield and not on the shield….” For a long time now, the only program of economic analyses, and not only, that I have been watching with pleasure, is Showbiz Bazaar, presented by Moise Guran at Antenna 3. Even if he talks about the inflation index, Roºia Montanã or about the growth of the rate of excise on alcohol and tobacco, he does it with arguments and professionally. If you are not an economist by profession, it doesn’t mean, under any circumstance, that you wouldn’t understand what he talks about. On the contrary, he tames the subjects; he takes them out of the strict area of the audit specialist and clarifies them for you, an amateur. Well-informed and friendly, Moise Guran with his Showbiz Bazaar proves that one can perform a qualitative journalism, provided he really cares about what he is talking about and the viewers can see the difference.

I had a small pleasure these days. Each Thursday there is a debate-program on TVR1, with spectators brought on the set. The theme of the last discussion, for which nutritionists and representatives of the Health Department were invited, was of raising the awareness of the public to the importance of a healthy diet. The risks of obesity and the unhealthy culinary habits transformed Romania in the country with the biggest number of overweight population. However, this is the serious part of the show. On this occasion, I had the opportunity of seeing a character, which I have seen along the years, seated on the first row of the studio- benches. Sober and wearing a costume, he seemed a decent fellow and he finally seemed to be interested in the topic. He was participating, he nodded a few times and if the microphone had accidentally reached him, he would have said something. I don’t know what kind of life is that of a “figurant” for shows, but watching him I remembered the TV serial Extras, which had a wild humor but was equally cynical.
On At home TV(Acasa) I stumbled upon some evening news, were some girls had the same verbal twitch /tic verbal: after e few insecure words, as a bonus, they were repeating an affected “honestly”. All that lame sincerity amused me; it had something funny and hypnotic…as everybody that comes out of the TV does.
