The week commenced at full speed. I entered an office where several pairs of eyes were fallowing on the big screen of a TV the capital letters writing:” The dead guy of yesterday is here with us in the studio.” on OTV evidently. I am not familiar with what happened afterwards, but it doesn’t matter.
A few days elapsed and I found out form the news the epopee of the stressed hens and of the batteries in which they are raised, certain boxes no bigger than an A4 shit of paper. As a result of these conditions, the stamps imprinted on the eggs must be read with care before buying the eggs, just to be certain of what we eat, and this is how we ended up having another phobia. Yesterday, at the supermarket, people were standing in a row while inspecting very carefully the inscription on the eggs. It is obvious that the golden, healthy and imprinted eggs were impossible to be found. Some people gave up the idea of buying eggs and others were content with the eggs of the stressed hen, after examining the merchandise on the shelves. It is as if we lived in a utopian world and as if the TV announced that a small detail could harm the equilibrium our lives. We must do something, I was thinking of meditating a little upon this question: Who came first the stressed egg or the hormone injected hen?

I came across a TV show called Mean but Good on Antenna 2. The guest of honour, as the subtitle was warning us, was Iri’s blonde, a lady thatwas courted by the caricatural character mentioned above. The blonde-haired woman was among other things the possessor of certain incendiary text messages that she received from him. As always when we deal with a divertissement show, the show ended once more in an apotheosis, with a collective dance on “manelo”- Arabian rhythms. Jamil the singer, accompanied by two overweight and rather clumsy dancers, managed to rise people up and applaud…

After so much surrealism, one gets in the mood for more serious matters. Evidently, we are all familiar with the scandal that sprang with good reason, due to the attempt of replacing Marius Oprea from the board of the Investigation Institute of Communism Crimes and The Memory of the Romanian Exile. Friday on Antenna3, the historian was invited to talk about the reasons for the modification. Politics is the reason evidently. I watched Marius Oprea and the questions of the journalist remainded me of the electoral campaign. Each topic is a good one as long as it has a purpose. In this instance, it is about the disputes between Băsescu and The Antennas. Obviously, the story touches upon this topic as well, but the story is more complicated. Every opportunity is used for very well defined purposes. They couldn’t care less about what that man was saying, because time and again things as they were disjointed into chunks, in order to serve for certain interests, seemed very sad…
By the way, in respect of this degradation in which we move, the lack of values, of references, of how the media characters end up taking the law in their hands, you must read the excellent article of Alina Mungiu-Pippidi from (România liberă) The Free Romania. www.romanialibera.ro
She recounts in every detail aspect that we all fell…..
