Sinaia-Romania International Guitar FestivalINTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL SINAIA - ROMANIA

The forteenth edition of the International Festival of Classical Guitar Sinaia – Romania 2010 will include:

1. International contest
2. Contests of young guitarists under the age of 17.
3. Master class
4. Recitals
5. Exhibition and guitar show room – C. Dumitriu
6. Gala Concert “five o’clock at the Castle

1. The statute of the International Contest
The contest is open to all guitarists regardless of their age and will include two stages:

First stage - eliminatory
- A piece from Renaissance or Baroque
- Two movements from a work by Bach (suite, partite, sonata).
- A piece from Classic, Romantic or Modern period (written before 1950)

Second stage - final
Free program of max. 30 minutes.

The prizes for the International Contest

First prize
- Euro 1.000 a master guitar made specially for this event by C. Dumitriu (Romania.), worth
3.500 Euro
- Special recordings for the Romanian Radio & Television
- The invitation for a recital at the next edition (2011) of Sinaia Festival with a full board accommodation for the whole period.

Second prize - Euro 1.000
- Special recordings for Radio & TV

Third prize
- Euro 500
- Special recordings for Radio & TV

Notes of the International Contest:
The arrival of the participants will be Monday the 28th of June at the Sinaia Hotel across the railroad station.
The departure of the candidates will be on Sunday the 4rd of July.

The fee for each participant of the festival including meals and accommodation at 3-4 stars hotel, master class & recitals is Euro 280. For the participation in the contest the fee is Euro 50, payable upon the arrival in Sinaia.

For pasiv participation (parents, teachers, etc.) the fee for the whole period is 220 Euro, including meals, accommodation and recitals.

All participation fees, as mentioned above, will be paid upon arrival in Sinaia.

The order of the contestants will be established by the organisers, and the decisions of the jury will be final.




The participation card must be sent until the 31st of May 2010, by e-mail: chitararomania@yahoo.com after this date the discount made for the festival by the hotels and restaurants will be uncertain, which means double prices (tourist like normal tariff).

2. The contest of young guitarists will include three categories of age:

A - contestants born after 1.01.2000
B - contestants born after 1.01.1997
C - contestants born after 1.01.1993

For the A category the program will be free and will last max.8 min.

For the B category the program will last max. 12 minutes and will include pieces from at least two important periods.

For the C category the program will last max. 15 minutes and will include:
- a piece (or more) from the Renaissance or Baroque
- a piece (or more) from the Classic, Romantic or Modern period
- free program in the rest of time.

The prizes for the young guitarists :

- The Romanian Guitar Foundation will award a special prize – Stipendium for the International Young
Guitarists Festival “Eduard Pamfil” 2010, December (free participation)
- The Transilvania Guitar Association will award a special prize – Stipendium for the International Guitar
Festival in Cluj-Napoca, August 2010.
- The Harmonia Cordis will award a special prize – Stipendium for the International Guitar Festival in
Targu Mures 2010.
- The Harmonia Cordis will award a special prize – Stipendium for the International Guitar Festival
«Terra Siculorum» Odorheiul Secuiesc 2011.

All the other prizes awarded during the contest for the free categories will amount to a total value of Euro 1.500.

Notes of the young guitarists:
The participants must arrive at the Sinaia Hotel (across the railroad station) Monday the 28th of June at and will depart on Sunday 4th of July.

The overall festival fee including 3-4 stars Hotel, 3 meals per day, at Sinaia Restaurant, recitals and contest taxes will be Euro 230 per person.
For master class (activ participation) the fee is Euro 50.
The contestants will also be allowed to participate in two categories. In this case they will have to pay the participation fee for both categories.

The contest of the young guitarists will run on the 1st and 2nd of July from 9:30 as follow:
- Thurday 01.07.2010 the A & B categories
- Wednesday 02.07.2010 the C category

Winner Concert: - 3rd of July – Sinaia Cazino hall.

The international jury will appoint some contestants who will play Saturday the 3rd of July at 11.00 o’clock in a recital that will be broadcasted on the Radio and TV.


3. Master class

Simultaneously with the contest a master class will be held by great masters of International fame:

Zoran Dukic, Marcin Dylla, Florian Larousse, Antal Pusztai, Bosko Radojkovic, Catalin Stefanescu-Patrascu &
Liviu Georgescu.

A Certificate will be awarded at the end of the masterclass.

4. Recitals
Will be held by master from above in the concert hall of the Sinaia Casino every evening from 19.00 as folows:

- Monday June 28th - Florian Larousse, France

- Tuedsay June 29 th - Zoran Dukic, Croatia

- Wednesday June 30 th - Marcin Dylla, Poland

- Thursday July 1st - Duo Stan & Ionut Zamfirescu, Romania

- Friday July 2rd - Antal Pusztai, Hungary

5. Exhibition and guitar show room held by Maestro Constantin Dumitriu - Romania

6. Gala Concert “five o’clock at the Castle - will take place on Sunday, 3rd of July at 17.00 o’clock at the “Foisor Castle”.

Brief presentation:
The International Guitar Festival Sinaia - Romania is one of the most elegant and well known musical festivals in Europe. Being at the forteenth edition in 2010, the festival hosted along this years some of the greatest guitarists and chamber groups of guitars from all over the world. Soloists from over 20 countries on four continents have been guests of the Romanian festival.
Some of the most prestigious publications from France, England, Germany, Japan, Italy, Poland, Holland, Greece, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turcia, Slovenia and Serbia wrote eulogies articles about the Romanian festival. Due mostly to this event the guitar was included in the Romanian education, in schools and universities. Many young Romanian guitar player won international prizes in Europe being invited as soloists in countries like Greece, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turcia, Slovenia or Serbia, Romania becoming member of the International Association of Guitarists from south-eastern Europe.
The International channels of the Romanian TV and Radio had broadcast by satellite all over the world many hours with the recitals and the contests of our festival.

Location:
The recitals of the festival are held at the Concert Hall of the Casino.
The Gala Concert take place at the “Foisor” Palace up in the forest.
The contests and master class are held at the Cultural Center “Carmen Sylva”, in the Sinaia center.
Accommodation of guests and participants is at hotels: International, Sinaia, New Montana (ONT Carpati), Furnica, Economat (RA-APPS) Anda, and Palace.

Promotion the festival:
The Romanian and foreign press offered large spaces to the Romanian festival considering it a major cultural event in Europe.
The Romanian news papers as: Romania Libera, Evenimentul zilei, Ziua, Formula AS, Cotidianul, Adevarul, Curierul National as well as musical publications like Musical Report, Actualitatea Musicala, Sapte Seri or local magazines like Gazeta de Prahova included in their pages articles about it.
Classical Guitar (England), Cahiers de la Guitare (France), Guitare und Laute (Germany). Tokio Gazet (Japan) wrote a lot about the Romanian festival.
The Romanian Television and Radio Romania broadcasted interviews, reportage, contests and recitals with all the eight editions of the festival.
The Romanian Guitar Foundation issued in cooperation with Sony Music Romania the compact discs “best of Sinaia Guitar Festival” since 2000, the first CD being proposed for “the best musical production of the year”.
The Radio “Free Europe” broadcasted more reports and chronics dedicated to the Sinaia festival.

The target of the Sinaia festival:
Is mainly formed by art and culture customers as teachers, students, pupils, music lovers, men of culture of all ages and from everywhere.

The field of activity is:
Education, culture, arts, and even tourism and entertainment.

The notoriety of the International Guitar Festival Sinaia - Romania was seen and heard far over the Romanian and even European borders offering to our country and its music school a prestigious image.
Every edition of the festival brings, besides the joy of good music the occasion of new meeting with interesting people from the field of culture, arts and education, as well as personalities from policy, and bussines from Romania and abroad.
The International Forum (A.S.E.G.), which includes directors of international festivals from nine European countries and in which the Romanian Guitar Foundation is founder and full member opens large possibilities of international cooperation in musical and cultural fields creating the terms of a concrete cooperation at European level and integration of Romania in the cultural and artistic space of an united Europe.
Also the cultural tourism promoted by Sinaia - Romania festival contribute to the creation of a new and real image of Romanian possibilities and beauties that should make us proud.
