JULY 26-31 - SIMPLY SOARING: A SACRED DANCE FESTIVAL
CONNECTICUT COLLEGE NEW LONDON, CT

Dancers from around the world gather each year for Sacred Dance Guild's annual Sacred Dance Festival. This year's event, Simply Soaring, features more than 25 workshops, classes, and performances by some of today's leading presenters in sacred dance and mind/body modalities. Dance technique classes in a wide range of genres are open to dancers of all levels. Workshops include exploring transcendent dance, vocalizing with movement, choreography, and much more.

Experience movement rituals, circle dancing, body meditations and more on the beautiful grounds of Connecticut College.

Share one of your own dances in our informal performance venue. Network and shop our Festival markets. Highlights: Our first Sacred Dance Flash Mob Benefit on July 29 at the New London Pier (open to non-Festival attendees as well). Festival Faculty Concert on July 30 (Cummings Arts Center on the College campus) and day trip to Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts July 31. Dancers of all ages, spiritualities, cultures, dance genres and abilities are welcome.

JULY 29 - SACRED DANCE GIVES THE SOLE:
A SACRED DANCE FLASH MOB BENEFIT
THE NEW LONDON PIER, NEW LONDON CT (GATHER BETWEEN 7-8 PM)

Come soar, glide, move and be moved with the Sacred Dance Guild as we dance together for a good cause and transform the environment at the famed New London Pier. A pre-mob choreography workshop will be led by global site choreographer Marylee Hardenbergh on the campus of Connecticut College. Everyone is welcome. Donation is $10 and a pair of women's or children's shoes. Proceeds will benefit the Natalie Anderson Children's Fund of the Women's Center of Southeast Connecticut. The flash mob is a highlight of the Sacred Dance Guild's annual Sacred Dance Festival held this year from July 26-31 at Connecticut College.

The public is welcome to attend the Faculty Concert of the Sacred Dance Guild Festival 2010 which runs from July 26-31 on the college campus. See the many styles and forms of sacred dance performed by the Festival's workshop leaders and technique teachers, including Wesley Yarbor, a former Alvin Ailey dancer. A reception follows the concert. Tickets are $15 if purchased in advance, and $20 at the door.
