Tampere offers a great deal of energetic and passionate theatre art performances

03 August 2011

OFF Tampere is a fringe programme for any professional and amateur artist and group who wish to perform in Tampere Theatre Festival at their own expense. The OFF plays, performances and events bring a wide, versatile and fresh repertoire to the Festival, which spreads around Tampere city and its neighbouring area.

Altogether OFF Tampere includes 136 performances and 37 productions performed by 34 groups. You are able to enjoy OFF Tampere's passionate performances every single day of the festival 1.-7.8.2011; stand up, improvisation theatre, circus, dance, music, theatre for all ages, monologues and traditional open-air theatre.

Most of OFF Tampere performances are in Finnish but there are some shows which are suitable for international audience as well.

You can enjoy OFF Tampere's international street theatre in Laukontori and in Jugendtori. Mime performance group Dynamime (France) performs every day of the week with its act Postman Bidule - interactive mime-clown show. The show is directed by Christian Albouy. Another street performance is Paulo Avataneo's (Italy) Butterfly Catcher, which combines mime, music, sounds, comedy, grammelot and body percussion. From Tuesday to Friday people can enjoy one-person-sitting/listening-experience in You Are DONKI QUEENDOM by Gnab Collective. Voice installation is performed in Old Library House, Keskustori. Circus Ruska and Jakob's circus serve acrobatics in Tullitori, Keskustori and Old Library House. Shows Play:Time, D.A.D and Parisuhdetta ja akrobatiaa (Relationships and Acrobatics) are performed twice a day.

Also Theatre Dzampano from St. Petersburg will charm the Festival audience with a speechless performance The Bronze Horseman. The performance is an interpretation of Pushkin's classic poem, which tells about the great flood of the river Neva and the argument between the state and the people.

Dance Theatre MD's Burn auts is shown on Hällä-stage on Saturday and Sunday. Burn auts combines both modern dance and text.
