TEMPS D'IMAGES in Lisbon

During more than 3 weeks, TEMPS D'IMAGE is settling in Lisbon, taking possession of the main cultural venues of the city. From Gary Hill to La Ribot, from Cécile Proust to The Kronos Quartet & Victor Gama, going through the young Portuguese scene, the festival will showcase nearly 40 artists coming from all the fields of creation: cinema, theatre, dance, video, contemporary art... For the third year, TEMPS D'IMAGES will also present an international selection of films in the frame of the Award for Films on Art which will be bestowed on by the festival's jury on November 14th.

Romantics

This summer, romance is in the air in the Clore Gallery. A major new nine-room display presents Romantic art in Britain, its origins, inspirations and legacies. Drawn from Tate's collection, it showcases major works by Henry Fuseli, JMW Turner, John Constable and Samuel Palmer, as well as newly-acquired works by William Blake.

The exhibition features selected works by artists from the XXL Gallery circle. The said gallery existed during the 1990’s in Sofia. Lika and Genko

Lika Yanko (1928-2001) and Genko Genkov (1923-2006) are two Bulgarian artists who ventured into the art scene at a time of dramatic changes. Two artists, who, in an age of incessant compromising, never gave up their beliefs, both of them finding their own truth in art in their own individual ways. Genko – expressively and exultantly and Lika – in a relaxed in-depth manner.

Franke (born 1927 in Vienna, lives and works near Munich), the ZKM | Media Museum presents a comprehensive exhibition on the work of this ťWanderer between the WorldsŤ. The exhibition, which continues the ZKM seriesťPhilosophy and ArtŤ, sheds light on Franke’s multi-facetted and varied impact on subjects ranging from science to art.
