Miroslav Krobot, a director and a film actor, has seized onto an exotic story from far north: he has directed Finland’s most lauded film maker Aki Kaurismäki’s The Man Without a Past for Dejvické divadlo’s stage in Prague.

Ludvig Holberg’s tragicomedy is profoundly resonant social satire. Juha Hurme updates the work from the 18th century to the current times as if in secrecy; inconspicuously and seamlessly.

The second-generation Swedish-speaking Finn, Theatre Dramaten’s actor Tanja Lorentzon brings to stage the history of her own family as an intimate monologue spiced up with twinkles of humor.

Hilda, written by the awarded a French-Senegalese novelist, Marie NDiaye and directed by Cilla Back, was first performed in Schaubühne, Berlin in March. Minna Haapkylä plays the main role as Mrs Lemarchand who wants to hire a maid, Hilda.

Tony Kushner’s numerously awarded Angels in America – also known as a television series – examines the approaching millennium from the contemporary past, the 1980’s. In the culmination points of the main characters’ lives the harsh reality merges with fantasy.
