Text and images from the Finland Embassy with the help of Mrs. Carmen Grigoraş:

The exhibition brings the salutation of Finnish city Turku: European Capital of Culture 2011 to the city of Sibiu - European Cultural Capital in 2007.

The exhibition offers the possibility of purchasing works done by 15 Finnish artists aged between 31 and 60 years, who endeavored to their express emotions through the most careful and delicate engraving techniques.

Each artist brings to this exhibition a number of 3-5 works, while the techniques range from intaglio (mezzotintei technique, the needle engraving or chemical etching - aqua forte or etching, also acvatinta) to woodcut, lithography, works on carborundum or watercolor.

If most of the artists made use of a single technique in the work presented, there are five of them who dare to use two, three, even four techniques of engraving in the same paper: Yrjänä Ermala Matti Helenius, Marja Salonen, Tea Tikka, Merja Ylitalo

Named Turun Taidegraafikot Ry since 1967, Turku Printmaker Association aims to promote Finnish graphic art, but also to help its members professionally.
