Czech Castles in the Work of Jan Konůpek

Exhibition of graphics and photos

Location: Chvaly Chateau

The exhibition of 19 engravings and drawings of the Czech castles strives to introduce Jan Konůpek as a landscape painter, however, at the same time, to bring a little contribution to this year’s 200th anniversary of the poet Karel Hynek Mácha’s birth whose skillful drawings of the “castles beheld” are still very popular. Therefore, the exhibition proves that a worthy successor to K. H. Mácha occurred even in this respect.

Neoclassicism and Biedermeier from the collections of the Prince of Liechtenstein

This exhibition offers the Czech public and visitors to Prague a first-time opportunity to view art treasures of the Neoclassical and Biedermeier eras, from the rich collections of Hans-Adam II, the reigning Prince of Liechtenstein, accompanied by loans from state-owned Moravian chateaus. Superb portrait, landscape and genre paintings by noted Viennese artists — Heinrich Füger, Friedrich Amerling, Peter Fendi and Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller — attest to the role of the Princely Family as a leading patron, commissioner and collector of the arts. More than 260 works are showcased — paintings, sculpture, unique collections of Viennese hand-painted porcelain, architectural plans and furniture.

Norbert Tadeusz | Works on paper

Norbert Tadeusz, born in 1940, was one of Joseph Beuys' master pupils in the 1960s. He is regarded as one of the most important contemporary artists in Germany to have held steadfastly to their figurative pictorial world over a period of many decades. The familiar and the everyday in Tadeusz's graphic work is also dominated by the presence of the (predominantly female) body in its sensual dimension.
