O Museu de Lamego acolhe a mostra de cerâmica contemporânea da autoria de Lurdes Gomes.
Tendo como suporte técnicas utilizadas desde o Paleolítico Superior, a ceramista apresenta um conjunto de objectos, onde o passado e o presente se cruzam.
Maria de Lurdes Pereira Gomes nasceu na freguesia da Penajóia, concelho de Lamego. Depois de passar pelo Estilismo e de ter feito criações para a Grande Distribuição Mundial com um grupo francês, aplicou-se às Artes Gráficas em alguns jornais do país. Mais tarde abandonou as duas áreas para se dedicar integralmente à cerâmica.

Stephen Vitiello: The Birds
A Kaldor Public Art Project

The Birds by internationally celebrated US sound and media artist Stephen Vitiello will be installed at the entrance to the Art Gallery of NSW. This sound piece is based on Daphne du Maurier’s story of the same name. Inspired by the cacophony of Australian native bird life, Vitiello will ‘catch a listener by surprise as if there is suddenly a spoken voice or singing bird whispering in one’s unsuspecting ear’.

Victorian visions presents an impressive collection of some 45 paintings, watercolours, drawings and sculptures by some of the luminaries of Victorian art, including works by Rossetti, Holman Hunt, Burne-Jones, Leighton, Poynter, Watts and Waterhouse.
The collection has been assembled by John Schaeffer, Australia’s most passionate and highly respected collector of 19th-century European art.

Alfred Stieglitz (1864–1946) was one of the most influential figures in 20th-century American art. He was a true visionary and among the first to recognise the power of photography as an artistic and poetic medium, the epitome of a new way of seeing. A legendary figure who wanted to break with the past, Stieglitz was devoted to shaping a new cultural identity for America in a new century.
This significant exhibition features 150 of the finest and rarest photographs Stieglitz ever printed during the most prolific period in his career.

Double Sexus

Bodies morph and dissolve, limbs go missing, while others multiply; male and female sexual forms merge into each other and give birth to androgynous beings - the sexually charged work of Hans Bellmer (1902-1975) and Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010) bare many striking parallels to each other.

Surreal Worlds

The Collection Scharf-Gerstenberg is exhibiting excellent works by the Surrealists and their forerunners. Paintings, sculptures and works on paper are being exhibited on three floors under the title "Surreal Worlds". The spectrum of artists ranges from Piranesi, Goya, Klinger and Redon to Dalí, Magritte, Max Ernst and Dubuffet.

The exhibition, Dream Passage, presented by the National Gallery in the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin, is the first major retrospective in Berlin of the internationally famous American artist Bruce Nauman. It is being held in connection with the presentation of the spectacular architectural sculpture Room with My Soul Left Out, Room That Does Not Care from 1984, which was recently donated to the National Gallery by the collector Friedrich Christian Flick.

19th Century Glasses from the Museum of Decorative Arts' Storerooms
This exhibition contains around 300 exquisite examples of decorative glasses from the 19th century and deliberately coincides with a major conference by the Deutsche Glastechnische Gesellschaft (an association centred on technology, physics and chemistry in the field of glass, as well as glass art and history), to be held in Berlin from 17-19 September 2010. On display are Neoclassical urn-shaped cups dating from the Napoleonic era, lovingly painted glasses from the Biedermeier era, richly polished service items, vessels in all manner of unusual shapes and colours, as well as drinking glasses with a distinctly modern, unadorned and simple look.

Talking Heads. Portrait(s) of the Kunsthistorisches Museum
The exhibition, arranged in ten sections, showcases a selection from the KHM’s exceptionally rich and varied collection of portraits. Seminal paintings by Dürer, Parmigianino, Titian, Velázquez, Rembrandt or Rubens rub shoulders with rarely-seen artworks from the museum’s depository. Outstanding ancient Egyptian, Greek or Roman, Renaissance or baroque sculptures are placed in novel and surprising contexts. Coins and medals, passed from hand to hand over the millennia, established the fundamental rules of portraiture on which the exhibition focuses.

Glory of the House of Habsburg
The Medals of the German Emperors and the Emperors of Austria 1500-1918
On show are a total of 250 medals, with the selection concentrating on those members of the House of Habsburg who were elected emperors. The exhibition also includes objets d’art from the Kunstkammer, among them works by artists who also made medals for the imperial court in Vienna.

The exhibition focuses on the history of this unusual “marriage of enemies“, bringing to life the splendid festivities with the help of selected original objects. Highlights of the show are the Parisian wedding-carriage that features subtly erotic decorations, and the large-scale depiction of the ceremony in which Marie Louise was handed over to the representative of her future husband, Marshal Berthier.
